Sarah Wright-Owens, Founder and Director at Singer Train, sang professionally for many years in opera and music theatre performing in major venues across the UK, abroad and on TV as a soloist before re-training as a Speech and Language Therapist. She has worked as an SLT for the Warwickshire Primary Care Trust and is now the Clinical Vocal Consultant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham in the ENT department where she is involved in the assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of singers. Sarah is currently on the Council for the British Voice Association which serves the voice/science community in the UK. Sarah has taught singing in schools, FE Colleges and Universities throughout her career and continues to do so. She performs regularly in concert as well as delivering weekly 1-2-1 lessons and group workshops in her busy private practice to professional and amateur singers, teaching classical, pop and music theatre stylistic vocal techniques. She has delivered vocal workshops to professional actor/singers for West End and national tours of 'Footloose', 'Grease' and 'We will rock you' and the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford. She has also been a regular vocal coach to professional Bhangra and contemporary pop artists in the commercial contemporary Asian music industry using her in-depth knowledge of vocal technique and physiology to increase vocal freedom and stamina in their performance in the recording studio and on stage. She is passionate about singing and how it benefits people's mental and physical health what ever their age and promotes singing's healing power as much as she can.
Steve Owens, GBSM, ABSM, QTS
Steve Owens has had a long career as a musician in the professional theatre, where he has been Music Director in many shows in the West End and on tour around the UK and abroad with production companies such as the Royal Shakespeare Company, Cameron MacKintosh, Bill Kenwright, Paul Nicholas and David Ian. Recent engagments include Music Director for the RSC's nationally acclaimed production of 'The Tempest' starting in July at the Barbican, London. Notable shows Steve has either MD'd or performed in include Matilda, Grease, Footloose, Kiss me Kate, Les Miserables, Evita, We Will Rock You, Love Shack and The Red Balloon. Steve has qualilfied teacher status, having taught for several years in secondary school. He also teaches piano and keyboard in private practice.
Johannes Norris Brown BA (Hons)
Johannes plays acoustic and electric guitar embracing many styles from Classical and Jazz to the likes of Rock and Folk music. He regularly performs in gigs and studio sessions in a wide variety of outfits as well as playing in local music venues, market events and shows. Since graduating with a 1st Class BA Honours Degree in 2014, Johannes has taught on the FE and HE music programmes at the Academy of Music & Sound Birmingham. He also works at the Roadhouse Birmingham live music venue and runs his own private teaching practice in Mosely, Birmingham.
Suzanne DingleB.MUS (Hons), QTS
Suzanne has been performing for the last 13 years, singing backing vocals and lead for various types of acclaimed bands around the world. Highlights include singing at Glastonbury in 2010 with Blues/Rock band Roadhouse as well as singing with and alongside popular Blues artists such as Trevor Burton, Walter Trout, Steve Gibbons and more. Currently, Suzanne fronts her own band Suzi and the Backbeats, a popular band from Birmingham known for rearranging well known material from the 50’s to present day. This year she will be the front singer for comedian Jasper Carrot’s theatre tour Stand Up and Rock where she will be working alongside some of the Midlands most influential musicians as they take a look at some of the greatest hits of the last 50 years. She works as a session singer for various studio projects, offering backing vocals, lead and guide vocals as well as writing for adverts. She has done work for Disney and is currently the voice of Funkypigeon.com. She has also done guide vocal work for various record companies and artists. Suzanne has qualified teachers status and has taught for several years in secondary, further and higher education as well as privately. She is currently HE Course Leader at the Academy of Music and Sound and is a highly sought after band mentor for bands and artists readying themselves for the industry.
