Sarah Wright-Owens, sang professionally for many years in opera and music theatre performing in major venues across the UK, abroad and on TV as a soloist before re-training as a Speech and Language Therapist. She has worked as a SALT for the Warwickshire Primary Care Trust and is now the Clinical Vocal Consultant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham in the ENT department where she is involved in the assessment and diagnosis of singers suffering with vocal health issues. She works as a Singers Rehabilitation Coach in private practice and is currently on the Council for the British Voice Association which serves the voice/science community in the UK. Sarah is a Vocal Tutor at the Academy of Contemorary Music and also visiting specialist lecturer for the Birmingham City University at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She teaches 1-2-1 lessons and group workshops in private practice to professional and amateur singers and is particularly interested in teaching cross-genre, stylilstic techniques believing that this promotes vocal flexibility. She has delivered vocal workshops to professional actors performing in West End shows and national tours of 'Footloose', 'Grease', 'We will rock you' and in the Royal Shakespeare Company productions in Stratford. She has also been a regular vocal coach to professional Bhangra and contemporary pop artists in the commercial contemporary Asian music industry using her in-depth knowledge of vocal technique and physiology to increase vocal freedom and stamina in their performance in the recording studio and on stage. She is passionate about how singing benefits people's mental and physical well being promotes singing's healing power as much as she can. She now runs a singing for lung health group supported by the British Lung Foundation in Kings Heath, Birmingham.
Steve Owens, GBSM, ABSM, QTS
Steve Owens has had a long career as a musician in the professional theatre where he has been Music Director in many shows in the West End and on tour around the UK and abroad with production companies such as the Royal Shakespeare Company, Cameron MacKintosh, Bill Kenwright, Paul Nicholas and David Ian. Recent engagments include Music Director for the RSC's nationally acclaimed production of 'The Tempest' (2017) at the Barbican, London and this year is back playing in the current 'Matilda' national tour in which he played in the original sound track with the RSC. Other notable shows Steve has either MD'd or performed include Grease, Footloose, Kiss me Kate, Les Miserables, Evita, We Will Rock You, Love Shack and The Red Balloon. Steve has qualilfied teacher status, having taught for several years in secondary school. He has a vast experience coaching singers over the years and also teaches piano/keyboard in private practice.
